Default Credible Source for VIN verification

Hey guys I am hoping to get some help from some of you experts on these cars. I recently purchased a 70 Monte Carlo and the problem I am having is that some time back in the 80’s the DMV misprinted the title as a 1973. I have been able to decode the VIN using online sources and it does come back as a 1970 but the DMV is needing some credible source to prove this. I called GM headquarters and they said they only keep records dating back to 2000 and the few dealerships I called are also not able to find it in their system. I am looking for any credible information to provide the DMV and/or tips as to where to find it. Thank you in advance!

Bring a copy of your service manual to the DMV. The first section should include a discussion of the VIN.
