I was hoping someone on this forum could help me decode this VIN plate. I inherited a 1971 or 72 Monte Carlo rolling chassis "project" with no paperwork or history. I have tried the "decode your VIN" websites with no luck. I'm not even sure which numbers are the actual VIN. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Also, if there is a known location of a 2nd VIN somewhere on these cars. Tom
That's not it, that's the 'cowl tag' or 'trim tag'. The VIN is on the dash, visible through the windshield, right about where the inspection sticker is. (driver's side) It probably starts out like '1H57V' the 6th digit will be the year.
