Default Check engine light

Got the power window fixed with a new switch, then went on to tackle the check engine light. Auto Zone told me that the MAP sensor is bad so I got a oem AC Delco part and put it in, disconnected the ground on the battery turned on the headlights to make sure the there was no power. Changed to sensor and re connected the battery and the light is still on. This is a 2001 3800 SS with 117,000 miles, is there another way to reset the light short of buying a scanner? Thanks

Quick update, went out and was checking voltage on the maf seemed to be good 12.20 then went back to map pulled the plug checked voltage it was good 4.9. Tried to start the car with map unplugged and it wouldn't fire, plugged the connector in and started right up. Pulled the plug on maf and the car ran fine, plugged back in and the check engine light went off. Think the problem is in the maf so I'll get one and have it when we need it.
