Sorry, I found it, My Monte is a 04 SS. I have googled my problem and it seems to be one that a lot of people with Impala's and Monte's have been having and dealers have no idea what the solution is.

Is it the ignition Passlock problem?
Please let us know what you find.

Sounds like an ignition switch. Can you get it turn over with a screwdriver? h

The problem is that the car leaves my wife stranded some where and by time I get off work hours later and go to check it out it starts right up. She says the security light has been coming on lately. I replaced the starter relay and I am waiting to see what happens next. Dealer has no clue what the problem is and I am not going to let a dealer go through process of elimination at my cost to solve a wide problem which other owners are having also. I am an old hot rod guy but any thing with a computer I am clueless. Thanks, Rooster.

That sounds like a CPS going bad. They developed a crack, and when they are cold they start right up, but when they warm up it expands, and fills with oil, resulting in a no start condition. When its doing it, does the engine turn over? Not sure if newer models are the same, but my 97 had a security issue, and the starter wouldn't even turn over, when it was giving me problems. h

Engine does not turn over at all.

Sorry, I naturally assumed, if it left her stranded, she was able to start it? Does she have it towed somewhere, then call you to say she's stranded? h

She was always stranded but was able to leave vehicle there, when I show up hours later it will start right up. Even a dealer that we drove it to could not give a reason for this happening although they had a Grand Prix there doing the same thing.
