May 2001 mote while driving just shut off,,the batt light5 came on then the car shut off,,i glided to the side of the road,,turned off the key,,and it restarted just fine,,any ideas...and the darn gage that shows batt charge that goes from 8 to 18 the arrow is just above the middle so should be ok,,just curious what would stop it from running in mid flight,,i did notice the tec jumped first,,then it went out,,,i was told buy the origanal owner there is a short in the wire behing the dash that is causing the tec to jump but the tranni is good,,guess it time ti get that fixed,,,also i hear a clicking when i accelerate,,just at first,,any ideas would be helpful as i dont want to show up at the mec,,,not having some ideas,,happy holidays all,,

 

Check your battery, alternator. If they're both good, you may have an issue with your BCM.

 

Batt and alter good,,charging system good,,found out i had a rat in the engine was chewing on the spark plugs,,didnt get down to the wirers,,but who knows what else he got hold of,,i reset the secuirty system,,buy doing the 10 min thing with the key..took it for a ride and no problems,,so far,,,what is the bcm???

 

Also read it may be the crank shaft sensor,, being that it starts right up after stalling,,wouldent it be ok to shift to nutral and restart while moving,,rather then have to pull over and stop,,may not have a place to do so if happens on freeway,,have to wait till tue to have looked at,,kinda freaks me out,,lol

this is a grand ride and so far worth the trouble,,but omg i hate computors,,lol

 

BCM = Body Control Module. Controls a bunch of interior ****, gauges and whatnot.

A bad crank sensor would make the car shut off instantly, but possibly start back up when you try. I had a bad crank sensor, and sometimes it wouldn't start back up for an hour or so. I put mine in neutral when it shut off driving, and restarted it - or at least tried to lol.
