Opinion Needed: Changed Blower Motor Resistor...Still no heat
Took my 2000 Monte carlo to an electrician and they said they blower motor resistor was shot so I bought a new one and installed it. Still the blower is not blowing. Any suggestions???
I had a similar issue for my 2005 monte. So naturally I suspected a bad blower fan or blower resistor but when I took them off and checked them they where both good. At least I thought they were. But I noticed something when pluging them back up they had lost power completely so I checked the lead going into the resistor and no power at all... fuses were good and relays also. I traced the resistor harnes to behind the radio where there is another connector pulled them apart and bam!! The red wire from the resistor to the plug was burnt and melted... leading me to think that the blower fan must have bad brushes or something causing the resistor to work more than usual causing it to heat up the wire and melting the tip at the connector causing it to loosen and not make a good connection. But all is well now I replaced the blower and the resistor harness now the AC is blowing COLD! I live in texas and the AC is crucial here. LONG STORY SHORT IF YOU HAVING BLOWER PROBLEMS FOLLOW THE RESISTOR HARNESS BEHIND THE RADIO AND INSPECT THE CONNECTIONS FOR A BURNT OR MELTED CONNECTOR IT WILL SAVE YOU TIME AND A HEADACHE
