I just changed my oil about a month ago..but the other day i started my monte carlo and the light that says "Change engine oil" came on for about 5 minutes and went away. that was the first time its happened and everyday it does the same thing everytime i start my car now. I have an aftermarket radio. and the only way i know how to reset it is through the factory radio. help is greatly appreciated.

This is from a 2004 Monte Carlo factory owners manual.
RESETTING WITHOUT THE FACTORY RADIO:
1. Turn the ignition to ON, but don't start the car.
2. Fully press and release the accelerator pedal slowly, 3 times within 5 seconds.
3. If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message flashes, the system is reset.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message stays on, it did not reset. Repeat 1 & 2.
4. Turn the key to OFF.
If the CHANGE ENGINE OIL message comes back on, it did not reset.
Again, repeat steps 1 & 2.

I still have my factory radio, and have never tried the accelerator pedal method. Hope this works for you.
