Default car won't start sometimes.

My car hasn't been wanting to start lately and the battery light comes on. Also when I try to start the car it just clicks it doesn't turn over. I'm not sure what the problem is I've replaced the starter and most of the plugs and wires.

What year and what motor?
How many miles on it?
When did the problem start? were you on the road or just at home with it?
It maybe time for a new battery..
Batterys tend to fail around 3 yrs old. If you've been charging it up with a charger ... and still only "clicks" It may have whats called a dead charge and is time for a replacement.

What year is your Monte Carlo & What engine ? How many miles ?
Have you had your battery checked ? Have all your connections to the starter been checked ?

Who put on your starter ? Any warranty ? Has any mechanic checked it out ?

It does sound like the battery a little. Do the lights flicker when you try to start the car?

Have you had the battery or alt tested?

The battery is less than a year old and I put the starter on myself. Also the engine is a series 2 3800 and has 223000 miles. I made sure all connections were good on the starter.

Thanks for your additional infor & I hope a member see's your problem & can help.
It's so difficult to diagnose a problem by just words on a screen & without being there with test equipment.

You can never rule out the battery, no matter how new it is unfortunately

Id be leaning towards a bad cell in the battery regardless of age...

I would have it load tested to insure that isn't the problem.

Have you checked the connections at the starter? Maybe you have a cracked wire and or broken wire at the starter terminal.

The starter motor itself could be worn out.. Did you get a new starter or a reman? Remans tend to have a higher failure rate.

If this happened to me...
3 things I would most be looking at:

Battery
Starter
Alternator

Have you had any overheating issues?
Does it leak or loose antifreeze?
Do you smell a sweet smell from the exhaust
Do you see "white" smoke out of the tail pipe?

What happened or was the circumstance when this issue started?

I had overheating problems before but I got that fixed. Also when I try to start the car it just clicks and now the lights barely even come on in the dashboard. I do leak antifreeze also it normally won't start after I get out of school and its hot outside, but when I come back at night it starts right up.

Low lighting...
Definately a sign that its not getting a proper 12 volts.

I would pull off and clean the battery terminals as well as the cable connections.

Hard (no) starts after driving is a definite sign of over heating... Yes it will start after everything cools down(Typical) Where does it leak antifreeze from? A non sealed cooling system will cause over heating as well cause the Hot condition (As you described)

If you got the overheating fixed..why is it leaking antifreeze?
