Default car problems

My car was driving fine then all of sudden when I was driving, it started hesitating to go to the first gear. Then it hesitated again, then it just died. I looked under the car and there was fluid leaking out. Now the car powers on (lights windows etc) but it doesnt turnover. Anybody have any guesses as to what went wrong. Please dont tell me its the transmission!

Need more info. Most important question: What type of fluid is leaking - oil or trans fluid (reddish color). Can you describe the 'hesitating to go to the first gear' a little more? Trouble moving forward from a stand-still? Trouble downshifting to first?

Well the car doesnt turn on now but when i drove it when i pressed on the accelerator it would not speed up it would just kind of stall. As far as fluid goes it all leaked out so i couldnt see the color but the fluid leaked from the left front side of the car if that helps

How about checking oil and trans dip sticks for fluid level. That will confirm which fluid got dumped (assuming they were at proper levels to begin with).

Depends on what year. The newer monte's (5th and 6th gens i think) its located on the frame rail just in front of the left rear tire.

Since it turns over I'm thinking you may have blown a fuel line. Have someone cycle the key off and on and look underneath. If its a blown fuel line you'll see gas pouring out as they cycle the key
