ok so i just bought a 1998 mote carlo while driving it it sounds like its reving up but drives great. when i let off the gas its keeps the reving noise. like if you were to drivive reving up ur engine then switch to neutral thats about the noise it makes. i feel it has soemthing to do with the parking brake. the emergency brake light is on. i have pushed the emergency brake all the way in and then returned it back to normal and pulled on it to make sure it cant come back anymore. but the light still seems to be on. is there anything i can do to fix this.

 

i dont know how those things work. But i would assume that the light is triggered by the brake being on, not the e-brake pedal being down.

I think that might be your problem. It would explain the revving too, if the brake is on, then the car would have a higher rpm to move.

Yeah, check that out. I bet your e-brake pedal is just broken and the e-brake is stuck on.

 

get on the ground and give your e brake cable a yank if you can locate it, also check your break fluid you may be low...as for the reving i hav no idea
