Default Ugh. Me too. 2000 MC.

I’ve replaced the fuel filter, pulled the fuel pump and cleaned the tank and the pump. Replaced the MAP sensor (per diagnostics) and cleaned the air filter. I’m guessing it’s the MAF sensor. I’m curious to see if our problems are related.
Will idil but dies going slow speeds of 35mph (stop and go traffic). Has problems restarting, will continue to die. Does fine over speeds of 50mph.

A few suggestions : I will begin with the easy ones.
1. look for a Vacuum leak On your engine there could be a hose that goes from the manifold to the firewall someplace near the brake fluid fill . If that comes off it will do that. or any Vac leak
2. Check to make sure some smartalec didn't block your exhaust pipe.
3. Mass Air Flow sensor needs to be cleaned
4. You could have a plugged Catalytic Converter.
5. K & N filter is the only one you want to clean. Replace the rest of them.

Default Thank you!

How do I check for vac leaks? I will check where you mentioned for any loose hoses

2. Check to make sure some smartalec didn't block your exhaust pipe.
Dual exhaust checked- all clear

3. Mass Air Flow sensor needs to be cleaned
$128 for a new one have the part here but the dang T15 anti tamper screws have me going back to the parts store for a bit. I will pick up MAF cleaner and try that before I install the new one!!

4. You could have a plugged Catalytic Converter.
Geez....any way to check it?

5. K & N filter is the only one you want to clean. Replace the rest of them.
My 2000 SS comes with a K&N... cleaned and reinstalled.

Pulled all the spark plugs and replaced. New MAP sensor, fuel filter, pump pressure checked and good.

here’s a question- had diagnostics ran and MAF read 10.1 - guy said it should match 3.8 engine so it’s either to high (3.8) or too low (38) he couldn’t remember.

thanks for the help! Much appreciated.

Cleaned and replaced but car died open to air

Cleaned and replaced pump- boiling water soaks with dawn and several rinsed then air dried in the Texas sun until all dry

Clean tank!

Debris in fuel pump

Thank God for fuel pump access in the trunk. Love not having to drop the tank- my son learning!!!
