When I go to put my car into Drive from Park, the solenoid that drops the plate that locks the cars transmission into Park does not release. I need to physically pop the plate down with a screwdriver in order to get the car into Drive (or any other gear for that matter).
Does anyone happen to know the part number for the solenoid? Everything I find does not look like the right part (the ones I find look more like valves and do not look like they belong under the console). I tested for power and when I press the brake petal, I get 12v of juice so it seems like everything is working the way it should except the solenoid. I have already attempted to get this part at a junk yard and they want to sell me the entire shifter assembly. The dealer wants over $500 for the part.
Anyone else been throught this before?
