A/c and heat only coming out of dash defrost and feet.
Hey guys. So here we go now that I have my Monte time to tackle my first issue. The ac needs to be charged and I'll do so after this repair. Its an 87 SS. The ac and heat work only on setting 2 and 3. 1 and 4 (max and minimum) don't work. Im sure it's just the module that needs to be replaced. No headache about that now. My concern is that air only comes out by my feet vents and the vents on TOP of the dash to defrost / defog. The front ones facing me blow out NO air. The other thing I'm not sure of is that my rear defrost switch. It clicks left and right but I don't know how to operate it. When the dashlights are on it's lit up but the tiny light on it isn't so I don't know if it's working or not. Haven't tested it. But what do you reckon the problem is with the vents facing me is? Thanks.
By vacuum are you talking about the hoses or an independent unit? Because on my console tere is no setting for feet face or dash. Just heat or ac and defrost. So what should I be looming for a loose hose?
Well I have a 97 monte and it was doing the same thing for like a year ( air only coming out of the floor and windshield defrost). I think if there is no vacuum, the climate control defaults to this.
I would check and make sure that the vacuum lines are securely attached to the intake, and that there are no cuts or leaks in them. I think they are somewhat inexpensive if you just wanted to replace them.
For my car it turned out that the idiot before me unplugged the vacuum line completely and put a rubber cap over the intake where it was supposed to go. I bought a 2 dollar rubber elbow attachment thingy and presto. Air wherever the heck I wanted it lol.
p.s. its the vacuum hoses, not the unit.
