I know my original A/c delcro had ngk on the side but is Ngk by it self still run the same on it? I have been wanting to try them and it's time to change them. Good timing to ask.

 

AC Delco is nothing but a name. GM outsourced it.

NGK plugs are 100% fine. I have ran them in GM 3100/3400/3800 engines flawlessly. But I believe all you need at platinum plugs.

 

Many AC Delco plugs are made by NGK and have the NGK part number stamped right on them

 

Laser Irridum any count? Thinking about giving them a test try and let everyone know the progress on differenence plus if I'm having to take the intake manifold off, then I'd rather spend all the money I can to prevent another change anytime soon but these last plugs lasted almost 100,000 and there A/C Delco platunim.

 

You wont need to remove the intake manifold.. Just the wires.... Or is there something I didnt see?

 

No need to remove the upper intake.

Doing plugs and wires on a 3400 is piece of cake in the Monte (lots of extra room). I can do them in about 30 minutes on a 3400 in a Grand Am. Just take your time if you have not done much with changing spark plugs and a dab of anti-seize on the threads of the new plugs is a wise idea. If you have trouble getting to the back plugs, take out the two bolts and two nuts that hold the coil pack assembly in place (may need to release some other little things) and flop the packs on top of the upper intake (that then gives you more then enough room).

I would just stay with NGK platinum plugs. I run those in my Grand Am and put them in many other GM v6 engines. They are inexpensive if you order form Rock Auto and OEM quality, good for another 100K miles!

As far as I know it has always been. I sell both at the parts store. The funny thing is that the NGK rep was in and telling us that there was know warranty on NGK plugs. So I grab a AC Delco iridium off the shelf, which seize 100,000 mile warranty right on the box and I told him "I guess I'll sell these instead". Him and I both knew what was in the box

 

I did a little follow up today to show the forum something. I didn't realize that it wasn't common knowledge that NGK makes a lot of AC Delco plugs, so I snapped a pic



I was actually looking at the plugs for the 3.8, but all the AC Delco Iridiums I sell are the same. The plug pictured is an AC Delco 41-101. That number stamped into the side is the NGK "Laser Iridium" number. I sell the AC Delco for less, and like I mentioned, the Delco's have a better warranty (but that probably depends on where you buy them).

The conventional and platinum AC Delco plugs that I had on the shelf did not have clear NGK markings like this

 

I'll go one further. I kept these "just because". I have pulled a bunch of factory plugs from GM v6 cars. Dual branding! AC Delco on the ceramic and NGK in the metal. These were factory plugs from an '02 Alero. But I have seen this a lot.
