6th Gen ('00-'05): A/C blower motor relay

A/C blower motor relay
Several weeks ago my blower motor starting going on the blink. Running on several speeds only to running on the 5th setting to not running at all. I've checked the blower motor motor resistor and the blower motor, which all are good. The fuse is also good. Before replacing the heater/a/c control panel, is there a relay that I could be missing? Thanks for the help.

Good question, and yes there definitely is, but I'm not clear on exactly where. The factory service manual makes several references to it in the HVAC control description and troubleshooting guide, but nowhere do they tell you where it is. I'm thinking it might be part of the HVAC control module which I suspect is the problem.
First off, there are actually 3 fuses for the blower:
1. Main blower fuse is in the RH fuse panel at the passenger end of the dash.
2. A/C blower is in the LH fuse panel at the driver end of the dash.
3. A/C relay fuse is in the engine compartment lower fuse block beside the battery, right side second position up from the bottom (10A).
That third fuse might be your problem. See the attached description of the control circuit. That relay redirects power to pull from the battery on higher speeds.
Please let us know what you find.

Shoot!
I was hoping it was going to be a simple, inexpensive fix for you.
The module replacement is simple, but the module costs about $130 new as I recall.

Update
I searched eBay for Monte Carlo a/c blower relay and found this.
The resistor plugs into the relay as a module.
Here's an example: http://www.ebay.com/itm/222176640834...%3AMEBIDX%3AIT

I did find one from an Impala in a local salvage yard. It was $50 and did the trick. Thanks for your help. I do have another quick ? Seems that my Change engine Oil message started coming on recently. Just after my oil change, first time ever and I've had the car 3 years. I've followed the owners manual instructions with no luck. Do you know how it's done?

So the HVAC Control module resolved the problem? I hope that's what your saying because a new blower control module (AKA resistor/relay) is only $13-40 new.
There's a few ways to reset the engine oil life message. I assume the one you tried from the owner's manual is the procedure done through the radio.
Here's the radio method:
Here's another way:
The other way is by using a GM Tech 2 scan tool.

Although this thread has been dead for a while, this may still be helpful for anyone still having this issue. You may not need to replace the dash unit, as I said in my post I had the same issue where only 3 and above worked. It turned out to be the resistor that is next to the blower motor. When it first happened I had switched the fan from OFF to 1 and white smoke came through the air vents. Of course that was extremely unsettling, but I'm actually glad it was only a resistor. It is located under the glove box and the blower motor will have to be taken out to do this. I hope just throwing this on here might help at least one person that may still be looking for a solution.
