Burning oil?

Default Burning oil?
This is a 2002 SS with about 130, 000 miles on it. Somewhere around 4000 miles on an oil change, the low oil light comes on & we have to top off with about a quart. There are no leaks, and the car does not smoke at all. Is this normal? Anything simple I can check or change?
