bubbling sound coming near overflow/waterpump
Hi all, I had the day off today and decided to flush the coolant system in my 03 ss. I used distilled/filtered brita water to drain and fill my rad. Mamonte posted a procedure for draining/filling/running/cooling down and so on until pure water starts draining. I followed this procedure carefully, drained the radiator after the 4th time and than topped off with Prestone Dex-Cool GM approved coolant 100%. After filling, I left the bleeder opened at the thermostat and left the car running at idle with the cap off the rad and started seeing bubbles come up from the neck of the rad. No bubbles came out of the bleeder. So the car drives nice, the temp is 2 lines below the half-way mark and the heat is really beautiful. The problem is when I turn off the car I hear a bubbling/burping sound near the overflow/water pump. Is there still air pockets trapped in the system, and if so what can I do to burp it properly.

I drained and filled with distilled water 4 times doing the flushing procedure and the 4th time I drained the rad it was pure water and than I filled the rad completely with 100% dex-cool including the overflow. I just got home a little while ago and warmed the car to normal operating temps with the cap removed from the rad and the valve bleeder opened and no bubbles came out of the bleeder valve. I topped off the rad closed the cap shut the car off and thus have not heard any bubbling or gargling sounds after I shut her down. Everything seems okay. The temperatures are normal the heat is normal and its running effiecently. Thanks for the advice and the help guys and I'm hoping that the system is air pocket free.

You NEED to fill these systems with half dexcool and half distilled water, keep a real 50/50 mix.
If you have just a pure dexcool fill, it is thick and it will not run through the engine very well, and it doesn't carry off as much heat. You will have a much hotter engine.
Now it doesn't ALWAYS need to be a 50/50 mix. If you don't live in places with freezing temperatures you can run more water than antifreeze. Since obviously you aren't afraid of the water freezing. But I wouldn't go more antifreeze than water.
But I see that you live in Canada, so I would definitely get a 50/50 in.

hey chibi.. thats what I did. I drained/filled with 100% pure distilled water and I cycled the water through drain and fills and the 4th time I drained the rad (the last time) I put 100% dexcool leaving distilled water in the engine block.. I followed this procedure on how MaMonte went about flushing and filling.
