Default Break light switch

On a 98, where is the break light switch? In back of the break pedal?

Thanks

I'm having intermitent no brake lights. For instance, last night, I checked them and I had break lights. Then I checked running, turn signal and hazard. I checked the fuses and the bulbs. Everything, ok. I tried the brake lights again and only had the window light. But, as my wife pulled out to go to work, she had them. She still had them this morning, when she got home.

Driving me nuts. So, I think maybe the switch. It's 9 degrees and snowing, should be fun laying on my back, to check it. LOL! Is it located behind the pedal?

Thanks

You check the wiring going to the brake light itself? What year do you have?

Ok, I'm ready to buy a turn signal switch. Any ideas/suggestions, as to a part number and where to buy? I checked rockauto and am confused as to which switch to get. I have tilt wheel and cruise but no radio control. They have 7 differant switches to choose from. 98 Monte LS
Thanks
