Default brake caliper bolts won't go back in.

So after finally getting my 2000 Monte SS back together now my top brake caliper bolt won't go back in the top hole. Any one else have this issue? I'm really hoping the only solution isn't going to autozone for a new caliper bracket.

Recently replaced front rotors, one of the caliper bolts would not go back in either. Had to remove the first bolt and then just barely start the one with the issues and reinstall the first bolt. Kind of work them back and forth, little on this one a little on that one till they take hold.

Slide pin, or bracket bolt?

Slide pins, make sure you have enough new lubrication on the bolt, and be careful with the rubber boot.

If it's the bracket bolt, you might need to thread chase. With how hard some people put those bolts on, there could be damage in the threads.

How much lubrication do I need? Is it possible to use too much? and make it hydrolock in the end of the hole?

hydrolock does not apply to the pin bolts (that happens when you have too much fluid in your engine's cylinders to allow proper combustion).

If you have too much lubricant on the pins, it normally gushes out and makes a mess. It could cause issues with proper movement of the assembly. If there is too much grease on the pins, just clean it out, no biggie.

But which bolts are you having issues with? Bracket-to-spindle or the caliper slide pins? Chibi and Zippy are spot on with the advice as long as things are good and none of the threads are damaged.
