Default Blew up

Today my 01' Monte SS motor blew up. Lost all oil pressure, towed it to the shop, and the motor is done. The tranny also was looked at and it has leaks and they recommend I need a new tranny too.

I am wondering if anyone could help me out. A motor with 150,000 on it is $2000 installed and is my only option besides buying a new car; being a college student I'm at a loss of what to do.

Does anyone have a 3.8 L36 or L67 and tranny that they would be willing to sell? I bought this car 10 months ago.

Any help is greatly appreciated

I would think that there are PLENTY of used motor/transmission combos out there

Full drive train from a '04 Grand Prix. Putting a Series III (L26) into a Series II :36 is a fairly simple swap from what I understand. Put your UIM, throttle body, fuel rail and injectors on it, re-use your current wiring harness, you are good to go.

You can do better than that I'm certain. If you don't have anyone local, check with Morad Parts in Cleveland.

Thanks everyone for your help. The right price came up and I had no choice but to sell it whole.

Don't waste your time with Morad Parts Company. One option is try Car-Part.com--Used Auto Parts Market to find something close to you.

Coming from a tech, don't put a engine with 150k on it in your monte. Your asking for nothing but problems. If the tranny shifts fine, keep it. Anything that is leaking can be fixed (output seals, pan, cooler lines)

Yeah, basically I sold the car. I'm getting $2500 on trade at a friends shop. I had some other problems with it, such as the ac compressor etc. and decided to let it go instead on nickel and dime-ing it
