7th Gen ('06-'07): Bad knock after oil change
Hello all, soi bought a 2006 Monte Carlo 06 SS about a year ago with 60k miles. I regularly maintained her and have always loved the cars. Unfortunately I had a few issues and the last oil change I let slip my mind and hadn't done it in 7k miles
.Typically I am very meticulous about everything but it slipped. I just rolled 80k miles on the car and have done the changes previously every 3k miles.... So I did this one after 7k. when I did the change I drained maybe 2 quarts of oil from the pan. Didn't look bad at all but obviously 2 quarts is not good, the car never had any issues besides this happening. Never smelled like burnt oil and never smoked, now that I did the oil change I have a real bad tick. Sounds to be a lifter tick. Any suggestions on how to make it go away or do you think its time for a new motor/rebuild. Some have said they left it and It just kinda went away after awhile but id rather not risk doing anymore serious damage to the motor.

If you only took out 2 quarts of oil then unfortunately your engine is probably done. LS4's take 6 quarts but with displacement on demand they're notorious for oil consumption. Make sure you've got the correct amount of oil. Aside from putting some additives in i dont really have any ideas.
