Default Amazon fitment problem

I ordered an Amazon multifunction switch for my 2002 Monte Carlo and the two bolt holes are slightly off. I got an aftermarket switch. I must have been tired cause I thought I was getting genuine gm,but I guess not. The switch works properly but one of the holes is maybe 1 mm off. The top screw fits on top of the steering wheel and secures the switch and the side grounds the switch and secures. I don't wont to send this back. Any ideas? How can I secure this side part while keeping the ground? Seems simple but I have limited time and money for this silliness.
Thanks

Seems odd that it is off. I would double check the install (such as see if you can get the old one in without issue, just to prove it is not held or bound by something). Other option is to oblong the screw hole with a drill if there is nothing going through it.

100% on this. 1mm is barely 1/32", if you dont have a drill even a hand file would make quick work of that little soft material.

I think I can remove the base from the old component and replace everything else with the new electronics. If that doesn't work then I'm just use a piece of wire and connect the screw to the grounding ring. The new switch only cost $40 and works, so I'm keeping it.

That'll work, Maniac and bumpin96monte, I think I'll be doing a little drilling in the morning. Too cold tonight.
Thanks for the help.

There wasn't enough material for any drilling so I returned to Amazon. I've got a couple of questions.
1. The cruise control for my 2002 is on the steering wheel. But, most of the switches I see have cruise control on the end of the arm. Does that matter?
2. Even the original switch has a seperate connection for cruise control that wasn't hooked up, but I can't find where this is supposed to connect. Any Ideas?
