Default aftermarket fuel pump?

Well, I'm a GM freak, but I have never owned a newer MC. I just found out how ungodly expensive the fuel pump is. So I had a thought...can you suck through the factory in- tank pump? If so I'd like to add an aftermarket pump that would be higher quality than the factory pump. It would be easier to change and I could get a higher flowing pump...

Default RE: aftermarket fuel pump?

my guess would be no, you can't suck through the in tank pump. i'm not sure how much they cost exactly cuz i haven't experienced it at all (with my MC). if your fuel pump goes bad, you just have to bite the bullet and deal with it. fuel pumpson most vehicles arean expensivefix with parts andmostly thelabor cuz you have to drop the tank.if the cost of the replacement pump is your concern, just buy an aftermarket in tank pump from napa, autozone, etc. they are much cheaper than gm pumps. also, you don't need a pump that flows more, since you will have a pretty much stock engine (i'm guessing...) so it won't benefit you AT ALL. keep everything stock and don't mess around with external pumps, imo they'll give you just as much headache trying to retrofit them to your application as replacing the stock one.
