Default Add T-Tops to an '86 SS

Hi guys I'm new here. Although I'm working on buying my 3rd Monte Carlo SS.

The car I fell in love with does not have T-Tops. This is a show car, and will only be driven on nice days, and shown. Not a daily driver.

I love every single detail about the car other than not having T-Tops. But I really want them. Especially since it will be only driven in nice weather. I couldn't duplicate this car for 1/2 the price I can get it at.

So is there any way to add T-Tops? Any recomendations? What is the cost associate with doing this?

Thanks for all your help. Glad to be a part of the forum.

Welcome to the forum...

Adding t-tops after market can get real costly. I would try some of your local body shops for a good cost estimate...

Thanks for the response.

I know it differs greatly, but can anybody give me a range of prices to give me an idea? The only thing holding me back on this car is the t-top dilemma.

I just got off the phone with my body guy that has been in the custom business for many years and he said no way no how should you chop on it.

The structural composition of that body will certainly cause big time leakage no mater how much structural bracing/welding you do to it. Same goes for sun roof/moon roof.

I pretty much figured as much. Thanks for the info. Just got back with the guy, and I don't think we're going to be able to negotiate what I consider a fair deal anyways. So I'm back to shopping. I'll just wait until I find a t-top car that I can't live without. There are always others out there.

That's where I found this one. Shipping is a bitch, and people think their cars are worth more than they actually are. I'll find one. I'll be patient (as possible).
