Default AC Noise - Question

Hello! When driving and I turn on AC -upon acceleration, I hear a high-pitched sound. When I let my foot up off gas pedal the sound goes away. If AC isn't on, I don't hear sound. I did have my AC recharged (it was low) about 2 months ago. Ideas? Please let me know. Somewhere to start, ect.

sounds to me like a bearing may be shot in the compressor where the belt turns it. does it cause any problems other then just a whining noise?

Hi JanetSorry to read about your problem with your MonteIts difficult to give an exact sollution to your problemfrom just reading your postIt may be as simple as a bad tensioner for the a/c/ belt orit could be a bad compressor or clutch fanThe noise you are hearingcould be abelt tensioner hitting the transmission cooler lines. The reed valves in the ac compressor if broken can cause the fliud to pulse through the compressor and make the belt jump. The only way to fix is to replace the compressorifits not a belt or tensioner problem.I hope that one of our MCF members has more suggestionssollutions for youI would suggest taking it to a trusted mechanic andgetting a checked and an estimate on repairsWish you Good Luck and Cool Air
