Default ABS and Traction???

Hi guys, sadly my 2000 Monte SS is in the shop for repairs again but i've had an ongoing issue with the traction system! As soon as i turn my car on the ABS and Traction Control shut off and the message center claims that i need to "Service Traction System" however there are no codes. i've heard this has happened before with many other Monte's. So what's the deal? Bad hub bearing? Bad harness? Maybe it's the ABS/Traction computer module?

Probably what I just told Joe Bloggs. It's more likely than not the connector to the speed sensor in the hub. But you don't say where you're from If you're from the north, you could have a corroded speed sensor, and they are not repairable. How many miles on the Monte?

How much was it? I'm getting the same thing in mine and I pulled a code U1040, Loss of class 2 communication with the electronic brake module.

Usually when that happens it's a sensor gone bad somewhere, likely to be in the hub assembly and then you swap that out.

I have the same hub problem. I'm curious to know if the rear hub assembly would be hard to replace with moderate mechanic abilities?

the part was a little under $500 but he had to additional wire work to fix the traction portion.

installing a rear assembly is way less work than a front one. but i wouldn't try it myself. if you're pretty confident with cars than i'd say go for it!

I'm quite confident, and one of my buddies is even more confident so I'm thinkin we would be able to get it with the two of us.

Doing it yourself it should be able to be done for anywhere from $60-$120.
