Default 98' z34 rear brake pad replacement problem...

alright so I'm putting new brakes on the monte and I got everything torn down on the rear on both sides and have the new pads put in but i cant for the life of me get the brake piston to slide back in and I'm using a big c clamp so i can put it all back together... any thoughts on this problem?

It's happening on both sides.

I am kinda wondering if I need to do something with the e-brake cables?

You will need a caliper tool kit from auto zone. You can rent it an return it to get your money back when your finish using it.

welll... autozone isn't open yet I dont think. They just put one in about a month ago and I'm pretty sure the doors aren't open yet. Would O'Reilly's have one? I'd probably just buy the tool.

i got a cheap universal one and got it back together, thank you sir! I didn't realize you had to screw the piston back in.... every other car ive done breaks on all I had to do was c-clamp it and push it back in. Learn something new every day

Default One bolt issue

Im trying to change the rear brake pads on my 98 monte carlo z34. Once i take the tire off and prepare to remove the bolts holding the pads I saw that its only one bolt (lower). Im use to seeing two bolts (upper and lower) and looking online I dont see any mention of this so I'm simply confused. Help me out.

Whatsup Moe, you reminded me that I should be changing my breaks soon before it get to cold. There should be two bolts though. One at the top an one at the bottom. Hopefully someone can pitch in an be more descriptive. If I manage to do my breaks this week I'll take some pictures.

We just did my brake pads on 99 monte carlo and they do not push in like the front brakes you have to turn them clockwise to push them in.

Just as a heads up, the person you're replying to hasn't been online in 9 years. It's a pretty old thread.
