As you can see I'm new to the Monte Carlo Forum. My 1996 Monte Carlo SS was denied a new break tag due to Code P0401. Any repair suggestions would be appreciated, as I need to avoid another $130.00 ticket because my car can't pass the inspection. I'm a college student, who is also juggling a part-time job, and need to get this repaired ASAP!

The check engine light won't go off, and my Dad is trying to help me with the repairs without incurring a huge expense. Can anyone offer self- repair assistance? What parts need to be purchased to resolve this problem.
