4th Gen ('81-'88): 87 monte ss

87 monte ss
Anyone know what it may cost to rebuild an 87 ss transmission in the Long Island area? Also need to replace the grey headliner. Any ideas when to get the correct matched headliner replacement?
I bought the car new, 42,000 in 2024. Transmission is not right at the moment.
My father had a teal bluish 70 monte new , then a 74. They were nice!
thanks very much for any direction. Dean

I don't know squat about whats available for the 4th gens, but for your headliner - as long as the base/backing is intact, a good upholstery shop can recover it to look just like factory.
When I bought my 05 GTO it had some delamination of the fabric (failing foam layer) and a few minor cuts / abrasions (bad enough to not want to just glue it back together). Took it out and over to a local upholstery shop who had it stripped, recovered, and looking like brand new factory again within a day.
Even if they don't have an exact match material on hand, they can order it once they've seen your existing material in person.
