Question 87 Monte

Hello guyz, I'm new to the forum. Are there any suggestions out there, I want to beef out my 305- any suggestions. Or just get rid of it and put a 350 in it.

If it was mine I would get rid of it and put a 350 in it.
Sorry I had two camaro's with 305 an one camaro with 350 it ran away from the other two.. I like the 350 camaro better..

Welcome to the site. I would get a 350 and build that up.

I am in the same boat..depends what you want..I'm kinda 'old school'..and can remember when you built what you had in the car..mostly because of money.
I can remember some sweet running 283's..and figure with some junkyard parts , scrounging, and knuckle busting..I may be able to get 350horse or so out of my 305..with some decent gears it should be a nice cruiser with passing power..
It will never be the fastest car..in my opinion..but basic hot rodding STILL! applies..speed costs money...how fast do you want to go??
heads , cam, exhaust and ignition works for all engines.. and "seat of the pants feel "...still works for me.. Most people would take the easy way out.and say 'put in a 350'...but if you only want a street engine that pulls decent mileage, and has some 'get up and go'...why swap??

I too am an "OLDSCHOOL" guy....IMO, and you want to do really well with some performance and power??

Instead of the 350....
Id do my work on speed poer and performance with a 327!
It has more power, torque, and reliability than any 305 or 350 IMO.
Not to mention, That its always been Chevrolets most reliable motor ever built! and will bolt right in! Also for a sense of trickery...Paint it the same color as the 305! hehehehhe(its that ugly blue) I think...hehehehehehe...

Id get your self an old set of Camel hump heads from the boneyard (have them rebuilt)..
the valves are already 190/202's..talk about a performance advantage!
and top it off with a performer intake..and holly 750 dbl pumper..just change it over to a HEI distributor..and 411 gears youll be rockn out a machine that turns mid 12's !!! instead of a 17 second 305...
