Default 700r4 help!!!

In the process of buying a 700r4 for $100 dollars.. I have a 84 MC SS, no computer and he says the tranny came out of a 1990 pickup. It is a 2wd like i need. I got a pic of the transmission serial and from what i decoded, it came out of a 88 chevy. Should i buy(im thinkin hell yeah)?? Will it work? Im gonna run lockup too.

Question: was the truck that the trans can out off computer control? If it was then the trans is. That may cause you some trouble. Understand I am not a trans guy. No way shape or form. But my 88 IRoc Z had a 700r4 and it was a computer controled trans. There is a trans for non computer cars for guys who put a big motor with a 4 barrel Carb! I Think!

The 700 from a truck is a good upgrade but youll prob have to have the driveshaft shortened and maybe a couple other modifications. May have trouble with hooking speedo up, but the 700 r will bolt up to your engine. You will have to have a different crossmember though.
