Default 2006 SS Battery No Good?

What does everyone think?

I turn the key, everything lights up, but just clicks.

Happened twice now, I just kept trying to turn it over and after a few times it fired up.
I noticed the radio clock also reset to 12.
And I also noticed it briefly flashed "service theft deterrent" when I turn the key.

I'm pretty positive its the GM Delco original battery.
And I have been reading on here that 6 years seems to be a time for it to go.

Sound like a dead or dying battery?

Ya had to replace mine already and I have only 77k on my Monte. You may want to check your battery connections to insure wires are good and connections clean

That's a pretty long life for the original battery. May as well grab yourself a new one its time.

well I stopped by the GM dealer with my wife's car and picked one up only to get home and find out it is the wrong size.
The one they sold me is easily several inches too big all around.
I am surprised actually how small these batteries are, and there is absolutely no room for any larger size.

So now starts the process of returning the battery and trying to find one the right size.

Look at the label on the old battery. It should have a 'group size' printed on it. Get a battery of the same group size and it will fit. Or take the old battery with to compare with the new one.

Mine went bad about four years ago! This second one is getting close to needing replaced. Winter here is hard on batteries.

That is starting to make sense.

After pulling my old battery out and checking the dates it was a 2009
So "assuming" its only the 2nd battery since factory.
I now installed the 3 rd battery in 7 years.

Someone suggested to me its because the batteries are so small, and the car needs so much juice that its just not a good match.
