talked to the guy today, nice guy, was building it to throw in a Fiero , got a bit ahead of himself and ran into a couple issues with cable actuated versus electronic, then his wife totaled her rig the other day and is selling at a loss.
I talked to a local salvage yard and also called Spalding, they both say for direct swap I need a 97 to 03
oh well, still saving up to have this engine rebuilt, same place that did the one on craigslist

Big difference is the throttle is electronic instead of cable driven. You'll need the transmission from the donor vehicle as well. As far as interaction with the BCM, I have no idea what would go into that.

The Series III shares a lot with the Series II (the NA versions are very similar) but the M90 Eaton is a Gen V variant as opposed to the Gen III in the L67.

Aside from the electronic throttle, I would imagine that it would be similar to an L67 swap into an NA Monte. Haven't tried it, just my thoughts.

If the right one falls in my lap I'll buy it otherwise my plan remains to have it rebuilt,
and yes trans too or might have a non moving car
at 155K it is time for some work to roll back the mileage LOL

You can use that engine no problem. All you need to do is get a throttle body adapter plate from zzp and use your factory throttle body. From there is will swap in just like a series 2 3800 would. And just use your trans and have it rebuilt so there is no wiring issues there.

Thanks John
the guy also said has no water pump, will mine bolt on, no issues?
I don't know if he still has it, but the more I learn the better
any more info on adapter plate, or do I just tell them what I'm trying to do and they know what I need?

I'd forgotten all about that adapter plate. Although it's fairly simple to set up a pedal for electronic throttle as well. We do it all the time in the older Camaro world with LS motor retrofits. I believe a lot of the guys actually use a pedal out of a 7th gen Monte SS or GP GXP.
