Default 2005 Monte Carlo LS clunking between gears and off the start

So my monte carlo ls 3.4 liter is clunking when i take off. I took it to Mytee automotive and they said i need my rear engine mounts and tranny mount replaced. if anyone could direct me to where i can get the right ones that wont break and maybe some tips on how to do it myself, that would be awesome.

Its also clunking between gears pretty hard now and again. Im hopping its not the transmission. i tried fuel injector cleaner along with tranny fluid cleaner. nothing is seeming to help. My fluid is kinda bad but isnt the worst. could this be causing clunking ? Or what else can i try to make it stop between gears?

Please help me Thanks

You can get the motor mounts and tranny mount at

ZZPerformance | 3800 Performance Parts | Largest Aftermarket Supplier!

clunking between gears is not a good sign. Our trannies are the weakest point in our cars. Try a fluid and filter change but do not flush the tranny, I repeat do not flush the tranny as this will loosen up any and all gunk in the tranny and could make the problem worse, I would think about adding a tranny slip stop fluid when you put the new fluid in and you may be ok, and you may also get a few more miles out of your tranny. I started having problems and made it over 100k before I had to replace my tranny. There are rebuild kits you can buy as well at zzperformance and you can also change the solenoid which may fix your problem. A good tranny repair shop should be able to change it fairly cheaply, if not there are lots of tutorials on youtube that give you step by step directions depending on how hand you are with wrenches and if you have a place to work on it.

Hope this helps

Thank you so much. Could it be the motor mounts between gears at all ? Or is it definitely not them between gears.

To be honest the clunking when you take off could be one of your axles. Not being able to hear the noise it makes it hard to diagnose, but prior to me having to change my axles my car was clunking when I first took off, you could hear it inside the car, and when I changed the axles it stopped. The clunking wouldn't be the gears I would think, when the shifter solenoids are bad it shifts badly, and takes a while to shift into gear then slams in, also seems like the motor is running lower than it should as if the torque converter is locked up in 3rd gear when the car should be in 2nd gear

zzperformance also sells new solenoids and rebuild kits, I would consult a tranny shop in your area and get their thoughts on it, the parts are relatively cheap on zzp I think under $20 for a solenoid it's just the labor cost of having the tranny taken out and put back in, although if I recall you may be able to just drop the side plate on the tranny to get to them. I will see what I can find for you for references

These could be life savers man ! Thank you so much. P1811 is the code the shop I took it too recieved. Which is hard shifting. If it's just that solenoid. That would be awesome. It just pisses me off every time I drive and feel it.
