2004 Monte Carlo SS sticking Throttle Cable
I’ve just purchased a 2004 Monte Carlo SS, there’s been a couple issues with the throttle cable sticking. Happens randomly, going down a road and it wants to keep climbing RMP and speed even when my foots not on the accelerator. I was checking the throttle cable and there’s no damage or kinks of any kind to the cable it’s self, but when it sticks it seems to hold it at around what would be 4,000 RMP in neutral. I can put the accelerator to the floor and back but when it goes back it sticks at thag 4000 mark again. Lubricating and working the end of the cable and the springs seems to clear up the issue short term (a couple days or weeks, depending) but it always seems to reoccur. There’s plenty of tension in the spring so I think it’s the cable but I’m not sure. Any suggestions?

No, I checked the cable and it was in perfect condition, I even disconnected it to see if it was the issue just in case there was something I couldn't see, the same thing happened. It's like it'll come back but gets stuck around 4,000. I can move it back by hand and if I work it around a bit with some oil, it works fine again for a bit.
