Default 2003 Monte Carlo LS Heater Blower & instruments stay on after ignition key is out

I have a 2003 Monte Carlo LS and the Heater Blower & instruments stay on after ignition key is out. This has happened a couple of times and will drain the battery. I would replace the Blower/Resistor but why is the instrument panel remaining lit? Thanks in adavance.

It could be an issue with the ignition, I'm guessing someone is going to suggest getting a new one and changing it out and see if it solves your problem. The ignition switch in our cars are notorious for giving trouble. Good Luck And Welcome To The Forum

Default Is Changing out ignition a DIY project?

Thanks for the reply! Is changing out an ignition switch a Do-it-yourself project or is it best to go to a gargage? Thanks

I think a few members have done it themselves, I haven't personally I'm going to put a few links to point you in the right direction hopefully. As for doing it yourself or having a shop doing it, I guess it depends on how comfortable you are. I probably would chicken out and have a shop do it, but I did change my blower for the hvac system no problem. https://montecarloforum.com/forum/ge...gnition-40810/
I searched the forums and I know it has to be somewhere but I can't find it, in the link above theres instructions on how to change the ignition out in an impala, basically the same car. I'll post the link directly to that below, good luck and if you need more help post this in the general tech section, more members search that and can help. 7th gen ignition switch replacement/access - Chevy Impala Forums
