Hi; so my sister's car just got a new battery, and is now not wanting to run as it's supposed to. Solo, what it's doing is trying to turn over and screeching. I don't know what it could be. I was hoping for someone to have the wisdom to help us.
That way when our dad gets here we can start from a good starting point, instead of starting from scratch yet again.

Screeching makes me think that a pulley is seized, but that would not happen with a battery change. Did this problem exist before the battery was changed? Can someone watch when trying to start the car to ensure all the pulleys move? Or slide the belt off and try to spin all the pulleys by hand (the crank pulley is the only one you can't spin by hand). Perhaps the AC compressor pulley has seized if the A/C has not been working for a while.
