Hi, my 2002 feel under the recall, that's why it kept popping up from my VIN to the 2004-2006 Ignition Recall. Obviously the Original Owners missed it and the recall is now closed, however does my shop need the original chevy key with the emblem on it in order to confirm this diagnosis? The said having it would save them some time. The recall invloves slipping out of run when key is on, causes a partial loss of electrcal power and shuts the engine down. Afer a new battery at less schwab this began. They've gone through it it's not their battery or their connections, (thougth I stopped needing jump starts once they went through it. It does stall out on me and it happened on the steeepest part of this pass where it turns, I think it slipped out as the recall states. Furthter, tmy shop said sometimes models made last of the 2002 production with most recent ignitions have had the same failure, he's seen it. Since the recall is closed, we won't pursue it, but if someone could tell me will this original kep help them speed up their diagnosies? Whay about the Security warning on my main idiot light, does that appen over this fault?

 

Dont need to worry. They only used the faulty switches from 04 to 06. You could always call a dealership and they can run your vin to see which recalls there are.

 

Hi! I worded this wrong. I have alread run the VIN and did see the recall was '04-'06.
My 2002 Monte is exhibiting the same behaviour. I tried to edit it after reading this, thank you for answering. My introduction was way wrong!
