2001 Monte Carlo SS spark plug change

Default 2001 Monte Carlo SS spark plug change

im trying to figure out a way to get to the spark plugs on the rear bank of the engine but im not sure what to do. the front was the easiest but the back it quite a challenge. has anyone gotten around this bnefore? any suggestions will help us greatly

It's not hard to do at all. Break it loose with the socket first, the put a spark plug socket onto the spark plug and continue unscrewing until it comes out. That way the spark plug won't fall out. Just reverse procedure to put the new ones in. I never move the engine, there's enough room back there. It should take 15-20 minutes to do the job.

There's plenty of room on the 3.8 liter to do the plugs without rocking the engine forward. Shouldn't take more then 15-20 minutes to do all 6. Just make sure the engine is cold or you will burn yourself
