Wow!, sorry to hear of your misfortune MN. Wonder what brought that on? From your previous posts it sounded like you were making headway, and then this. Nothing form the previous post suggested this kind of catastrophe was lurking.

Bob, the frustration cannot be put into family-friendly words. haha. If i had to guess, id say the oil pump failed. Had plenty of oil, yet seized in a mannor like it didn't have any.

But hey i'm a car guy.. if I was a non-mechanically inclined person, i'd be cursing the Monte Carlo name. Since cars are my main hobby i'm honestly excited to continue browsing my options for the rebuild. Luckily, Our 3800's are quite common I think im looking at around $850 for a rebuild, bout $700 to get a crate engine on my doorstep.... Now its time to wait for that xmas bonus and make some decisions! I think i may make a new thread for my rebuild n hear some thoughts.

On another note, Bob, thank you for all the advice with my stalling issue! I had a gen1 3800 in my olds, so its a slight learning curve learning the quirks of the gen2.. love all the info i can get.

I'm impressed that you can stay so positive when most of people would give up.
That's a sign of a true Monte fan, lol.
I assume the $700 figure is for a used crate motor with xx,xxx # of miles, right?
Good luck on the project and let us know if you ever need ideas.

Keep us posted.
