I bought a 2001 MC SS I am not sure of the engine size looks as if might have had a head replacement, I have noticed that it starts up excellently the first time I go to drive it but, after hat it has a stall in starting cranks over but will not start I usually apply the gas pedal because it seems that it helps! it isn't passing smog, I've submitted a photo of my problem, can somebody help me.

That looks like the 3.8 motor for starters that might not be enough info for some members to help. But 2 things you can do to help pinpoint is get a charging system check to see if the alt at or is failing or get a fuel pressure check to see if the fuel system is up to Par

Looking at your pic you have the Cali AIR pump system on a 3800. I'm not familiar with this system, but I know you are missing a vac hose. You can see a rather thick vac line going from a cylinder like item (has a green dot on the top of it) to an item on the left. The item on the left has a hook up for another vac line. It might simply be disconnected and laying around outside of the pic.

Posted this in your other thread, but just in case you check here first. Here is a link to a google search with pictures that you may be able to find what you are needing

https://www.google.ca/search?q=00+-+...8QsAQ#imgdii=_

also if you know of anyone you can park beside that has a monte carlo or a grand prix that you can just pop the hood on and take a look. Also a wrecker may have a car that hasn't been ripped apart yet that will let you have a first hand look at the part so you can see where the vacuum hose should be going as it really looks like something is unhooked in your picture
