I bought a 2001 MC SS I am not sure of the engine size looks as if might have had a head replacement, I have noticed that it starts up excellently the first time I go to drive it but, after hat it has a stall in starting cranks over but will not start I usually apply the gas pedal because it seems that it helps! it isn't passing smog, I've submitted a photo of my problem, can somebody help me.

That looks like the 3.8 motor for starters that might not be enough info for some members to help. But 2 things you can do to help pinpoint is get a charging system check to see if the alt at or is failing or get a fuel pressure check to see if the fuel system is up to Par

Looking at your pic you have the Cali AIR pump system on a 3800. I'm not familiar with this system, but I know you are missing a vac hose. You can see a rather thick vac line going from a cylinder like item (has a green dot on the top of it) to an item on the left. The item on the left has a hook up for another vac line. It might simply be disconnected and laying around outside of the pic.

also if you know of anyone you can park beside that has a monte carlo or a grand prix that you can just pop the hood on and take a look. Also a wrecker may have a car that hasn't been ripped apart yet that will let you have a first hand look at the part so you can see where the vacuum hose should be going as it really looks like something is unhooked in your picture
