1997 z34 high idle mystery
hi everyone
tl;dr drove car into water, start of problems. Very high idle between 2k and 3K. Replaced idle air value, cleaned throttle body, and did vacuum leak test. Still high idle! no check engine lights.
So i have a 1997 z34 monte carlo. Love(d) her
In May or so i drove the car onto a flooded street, and surprise surprise she stalled out on me. I pushed her onto a less watery driveway, and tried to crank her over for about an hour (how that battery didn't die on me i have no idea) anyways, after a while she started back up with a puff of white smoke. Ran rough for a few miles then seemed to settle. Then in the coming week she'd start to idle real high then if shut down and restarted the engine would be back to normal. Then it started to only run fast. Its idles between 2.5k and 3k most of the time and was scared to rip the tranny up. I got a new car.
Of course i made sure the air filter was dry back then (it was). I also cleaned out the throttle a bit with some carb/throttle cleaner, nothing. Replaced the idle air control value, nothing. Got some new vacuum connectors and hoses, nothing. Truthfully the vacuum leaks haven't all been fixed, but when i tried the carb cleaner vacuum leak test the RPM's did not spike.
So what should i do now?
would very low oil cause this? it leaks from the drain plug.
I have an OBDII scanner so i can get data of that if its needed.
At this point im looking to get her running right and sell her
