Husbands 1985 Monte Carlo just stopped running in the middle of hwy, would not turn over, no sounds or noise. A passerby said it could be key starter? He hooked a wire up to battery and something back behind air filter (sorry all girl here) and "grounded out" with a screwdriver and it started..had to pull wire to stop engine..does key starter sound right..car was to be used for stock car so not original motor, no dash functions except heat, wires everywhere inside and under hood

 

yeah the key lock could be out i saw that happen b4 but it does not explain way it just stoped like that tho ?
if you can start the car by jumping the solinoid its probly the ignition switch (key ) oh make sure that the linkinge is adjusted right too that will stop it from starting because of the nutral safty switch !
