06: Reving up to the Challenge...
Hey everyone,
Maybe you can help me, since purchasing an 06 SS I have found that doing any type of work on these cars are extremely confusing and very time consuming with the way cars are manufactured these days so I come to you for some advise.
A few weeks ago I was out with some friends and another friend pulled up along side of me at a light and started reving his engine, so I to put the car in neutral an tried to rev up. The car made it to around 2000 RPMs and kinda just....stopped, the car was running it had power there was no issue with it taking off and I clearly smoked him off the line, but when I got home I put it in park and reved up again, even in park you can't get this car to get over 2000 RPMs. What's the deal? Is there a way around that? It was quite embarrassing to not be able to rev to the occasion.
help me out, the car under the hood is completely stock.
thanks for any help.

There is a RPM limiter incorporated into the ECM's software calibration that limits how far the electronic throttle can open when in park & neutral. This is in place to protect your engine from over revving. My '07 SS is limited to 3500 RPM in park/neutral. This can be changed with a tuning program such as HP Tuners. Changing ECM parameters using tuning software programs is something that should only be done by someone that has experience in this area. Inexperience in this area can turn your ECM (Engine Control Module) into an expensive paper weight!!
