note that the TSB's cover all of the different GM models, not just the Monte or Impala... you'd have to click through to the TSB and read it to see what vehicle it applies to...

You can also see what computer updates there are for your car here: http://tis2web.service.gm.com/tis2web -- just enter in your VIN and off you go!

i have tried the 2 links they do not work

Those original posts are very old so the links are probably obsolete.

tfunk002....The problem could be either the antenae or the fob....don't know if your fob is OEM or not, but I have had aftermarket fobs with range way too far, like 200ft. Not good because the buttons were also sensitive and would often unlock the car as I was walking away and putting the keys in my pocket. Your fob may have the opposite problem. I've had several gen. 6 Monte's and have bought several different fobs on eBay and programmed them with my Tech2 scanner. I accidentally learned by reprogramming a fob from another Monte that the old code is not erased after programming it for the other car, so the fob works on both cars simulaneously (dangerous). To prove the difference in range effected by the fob itself, with new batteries in both fobs the range was different between the two fobs used on the same car. From my experience I've learned that OEM GM fobs are the way to go.

I am having the same problem with my '06 Monte Carlo LTZ. It works from less and less distance and I basically have to be right near the car to get the remote start to work, new battery and all. I was told that there is a sensor in the car that might need cleaned, but I do not know where that is located. Can anyone help with this so I can try to find it?

I've researched this and will apply the fix to my car one of these days. The TSB is 07-08-52-001C. You need to replace the key fobs, receiver, and antenna. The part numbers for a 2006 LT are:
- Antenna: 25845987
- Receiver: 25896540 with NO remote start, 25896497 WITH remote start.
- Key fobs: 15912859 with NO remote start, 15912860 WITH remote start

If your key fobs have a star on the back, this fix has already been applied to your car, and the problem is something else.

Hope this helps.

I don't know if I can post that here, but the dealership can certainly find it based on the TSB number. I doubt they're gonna do anything for free though, these cars are wayyy out of warranty
