please help me i have a 2006 lt 3.9l and i have a weird problem.....the heat shield for my gas tank is loose and hanging off.......is it ok to take it off and not die if it gets hot? Or how would you go about fixing it? Thanks alot all

 

I dont know if its ok to take off but if I were a betting man i would fix it.
What caused it to fall off?

 

all it does is to keep things like rocks from knocking a hole in it
