hey im kind of new to the post have a stock 05 monte 3.8 i love it but it seems like the trany hinders the engine way to much if any one knows a relatively cheap way to improve that let me know

If you have the non-SC 3.8L you can always upgrade to the HD trans. The standard 3.8L trans is from what I hear the weakest link of the entire drive train.

I picked up a Hypertech Power Programmer III that has made quite a bit of improvement in shift firmness and I was able to adjust shift point at WOT.

You can also get shift kits for a more permanent shift/trans function.

how hard would it be to install a shift kit...my bro did it but he had help and i wasnt there when he did it. i know a little about tranys but probly not enough

Most of the shift kits out there have pretty detailed how to info. But, if you have never done it and are not very mechanical I would take it to your auto shop, they should be able to help ya out.
