Hi All... new here. I have a 04 ss and no heat. just changed out thermo. Just flushed the radiator to get the Dex out. flushed the core and block. now no heat. Not hot on 1 side only . no heat at all.
What is the proper way to bleed the system. Or can someone send me in the right direction of what to do.

If you are getting heat on one side but not the other then I think the problem is in the controls, not the cooling system. This thread may be of some help:

Both sides are cold. no heat. Temp gauge shows good temp and rad fan cycles normal.
Any ideas???

 

Is the ac off ? What year monte and engine do you have ?

 

Yes the air is off. and the motor is a 3.8 supercharged.
Has been a come and go issue. well it is here. no heat. heard about pulling the power for 60 seconds, jacking up the car, need some help. wifes car and she is not happy.

 

Does the heat blow up in defrost ? It could be your blend door not working

 

If the heat comes and goes and you have a new T-Stat, I wonder if you have air in the system. To bleed the system, there is a bleeder valve on top of the T-Stat housing. Basically, the the car off, open it, then top off the radiator (until coolant is either topped off at the radiator OR begins to dribble from the bleeder valve).

Cap the radiator and start the car and let it run until coolant goes from a dribble to a stream/spray from the bleeder valve. Close the valve. When the car cools, you can pop the radiator cap and verify it still has proper amount of fluid.

Some times you may have to bleed the system more then once, but this should do the trick and you should get heat blowing.

If you don't have heat, I wonder if the HVAC control panel is failing (not sure how to best diagnose that).

 

blows cold also. I turned the car off and cycled thur the setting and could hear the motors working.

Do you have to jack up the front to get the air out of the heater core?

The HVAC is duel control. it was replace by dealer in o6 or so for ac not cold issue. didn't fix issue. had to recharge ac to fix ac issue.

 

No need to jack up the car.

FYI - If you had to recharge the A/C there is more of a problem (the A/C system is a sealed system, for the A/C to need a charge, something happened for it to loose it's original charge).
