04 Dual-Climate problem *09/07/08 Update question help*
<<< I checked for power to the passenger side actuator. I turned the passenger side temp up and of course I got voltage there. When I checked for voltage at the driver side actuator, of course nothing. Now, I took the driver side actuator out and unplugged it. I unplugged the passenger side actuator and ran two jumper wires from that plug to the driver side actuator, which was in my hand. I turned the passenger side temp up and surprise, the actuator started turning. So the driver side actuator works. I'm just not getting any power to it.
So thats where I'm at right now. I think the problem is with the climate control unit itself. But I'm not 100% sure. >>>
Yes, wouldn't that likely indicate the hot/cold slider control is bad? I understand you need to replace that whole unit and it's kinda pricey.

Very informative thread. My compliments to all. Try the attached link for some additional info. Quite a data bank of MC problems and solutions.
Forgot what year MC you have. I've got a new HVAC dual control panel in the box for the 2001 MC SS. Ordered it and didn't need it afterall. But, I think they went from vacuum to electric somewhere around 2003. Bought it on-line through autopartsstore.com. Acdelco part #15-72736. Paid $121.25 plus s&h $4.95.
Might be to your benefit to pay a competent auto electical shop @$40 to check it out. As you suspect, it might well be the circuit within the HVAC control. Or it could be a broken wire within the loop.
As far as I could originally ascertain, unless one is an electronics expert, the entire control need replacement if that turns out to be the fault.

Seems to be a common item right now with the 04. Mine got me yesterday on a road trip.
2004 Monte Carlo LS with dual climate control. The drivers side is not blowing out heat ( only cold air) regardless of where the climate control is at. The passenger side works fine and has heat etc.
Both sides switched up to high heat.
When switched up to defrost they seem to mix together because it is just warm. When switched to floor boards drivers side cold and passenger hot, when switched to vents drivers side cold and passenger hot.
So where do I start looking to trouble shoot this problem with the dual climate control not working on the drivers side. Thanks for any help.

I found a step by step removal with a graph type pic and recalibration for reinstall of new actuator .
My left air temperature actuator ended up just being stuck and started working once I got to it and messed with the hot/cold and air temperature actuator at the same time. Must have gotten into a bind.
Least next time it will be easier for a replacement when the time comes.

Removal Procedure
- Remove the left instrument panel (I/P) insulator.
- Remove the knee bolster bracket bracket.
- Disconnect the electrical connector from the left air temperature actuator.
- Remove the mounting screws from the left air temperature actuator.
- Remove the left air temperature actuator.
Calibration Procedure
Use the following steps to perform the calibration update:
- Turn OFF the ignition.
- Remove the battery positive voltage circuit fuse of the HVAC Control Module.Important: The module memory will not clear if the battery positive voltage circuit fuse is installed in less than 60 seconds.
- Wait 60 seconds.
- Install the fuse.
- Wait 60 seconds before moving the HVAC controls.

Is this the passenger side dash 10A fuse marked DIC/RKE or something else?

Well I got a new/used Climate control unit from the recycler. Put it in and the driver side temp control still doesn't work
So I took the actuator out and turned the driver side temp up and all of a sudden it worked!
I don't know whats going on here but I put the actuator back in and now the driver side temp works. I'll see how long this lasts. What could be the problem here?
