03' Crazy voltmeter
Hi All!
I just purchased a low mile 2003 Monte Carlo SS w/Jeff Gordon package. The car has been taken care of and the only problem I'm having is a crazy voltmeter. The battery doesn't drain and I have no other problems other than the voltmeter reading full peg right one minute, full peg left another minute, and then reading what it should read in between. I may start it one day and the peg is full left. The next day (or time) it will be full right. I have yet to start the car and have the needle read correctly, BUT eventually it will. It just doesn't stay there.
Any ideas? Do I have a ground issue inside the dash pod/cluster on the actual meter itself, or do I have a lose wire at the alternator or elsewhere? If the problem is in the dash, how big of a deal is it to get to the gauge cluster?
I'll check out any suggestions that I get.
